As the three-year lectionary cycle starts over in December of 2013, the hymnal project will begin a three-year research project. The project will include a cross-section of congregations within the synod. It will collect data regarding hymn use, psalm use, and order of service use. It will give pastors and worship planners an opportunity to offer feedback regarding lectionary choices, hymn of the day choices, and musical settings of services and psalms. Weekly reports will make participants part of an ongoing worship collaboration process that will not only benefit the hymnal project but the worship life of participating congregations. The project will begin with Advent 1 of Year A (December 1, 2013) and conclude with Christ the King Sunday of Year C (November 20, 2016).
